The Crimea then awaits with the battlefields of the Charge of the Light Brigade, the summer palace of Tsar Nicholas and the wonderful Fountain of Tears. This is the story of a spectacular journey that is told with humour and sensitivity and opens up a whole new world for those who have never travelled beyond the old iron curtain.

I got this book prior to my travels to Ukraine. I read this book cover to cover several times and prepared myself for an identical experience. Well, mine was so much better. I did not travel in a tour group, I hired my own personal assistant. For chump change, I had someone by my side the entire trip. I visited all the same places as this book described, but had a much more rich experience as I had a lot of time to explore. But the book did a super job of highlighting all the really cool places of Ukraine. There are many other places to visit of course, and you'll only get this from a pro tour guide, unless you stumble onto something yourself. I don't recommend attempting to do that without language assistance.Ukrainian people of some of the most wonderful warm hearted people I've met. My trip was life a changing experience there and i owe that in part to the guidance of this book.
